Hi all,

I would please like to know if clamav is supported on HP-UX, and where I can get the manuals to install on HP-UX.

Kind Regards

Herbie

Hi all,

I haven't tried it on HP-UX, but ClamAV should be fairly easy to install
on any standard Linux/Unix system. If there are not packages available,
you can always install from source. Personally, I prefer to install
ClamAV from source so that I don't have to wait on the packagers when a
new version comes out.

Clamd can be set up to listen on a TCP port for remote scans, but you
still need to use clamdscan or something else that understands the
protocol to talk to it. I am not aware of any easy way to do scans via
http.

Hi there,
Can you tell me ? Can I install ClamAV to a server so that it is
accessible via HTTP? Id like to do scans from http.
Please do not hijack a thread to ask an unrelated question.

Your question is too open-ended to give any sensible answer
apart from 'Yes'. Of course you can do it, but very likely
you would have do most of the work yourself.

If you can provide more information about what you want to do
then by all means start another thread to explain.

Mod_clamav for Apache.

http://software.othello.ch/mod_clamav/

But I don't know if it compiles on HP-UX.

what exactly do you mean?
scan files uploaded via HTTP (to a webserver)?
scan files accessed by HTTP (via a proxy server)?

scan files uploaded via HTTP and report if they are infected?
(having a web virus checker)

Apologies, I had understood that your question had been answered.

The answer is, of course, "Yes, of course." ... :)

With things like ClamAV I prefer to build from source. HP-UX does
offer a C compiler, of a sort. It isn't much use but you can always
install gcc and the rest of the tools. Will they let you do that?

My personal view is that it would be cheaper, far quicker, much easier
and more reliable to buy a computer and install Debian Linux on it
than it would be to set up a decent build environment on HP-UX from
scratch, but I'm not conversant with your imperatives. If you can be
more forthcoming about your requirements I'm sure that there's plenty
of experience on the list for you to tap.

I suppose I'd better get that written authorisation then, I wouldn't
